Gear Quest Tips

As I have just started with this game, the tips I have to offer at this point are mainly about the game play in general.

Gear Quest Tutorial
If you hadn’t noticed, at the top of the page when you first start the game after creating your character you should see some tutorial text. Following this tutorial is a good idea. It is short, it introduces you to a few of the features, and best of all, at the end you get a new magical dagger! Try it out.. it will help in the long run.

Sell the gear that you don’t need
Yes, you can sell all of that stuff and get gold which you can use to purchase more equipment. In order to do this, first you must visit a map square that allows you to. Visit the ‘Home‘ tab and take a look at the nine squares laid out on your screen. If you have just started, odds are you’re in the upper left corner of this square, the one labeled ‘The Cemetery (you may have to mouse over the square in order to see this label). It should also be labeled, (YOU ARE HERE). Well, the square you are looking for is named ‘Haven,’ and it’s located in the middle of the map. If you don’t see it, or cannot go to it.. that may be because it has a minimum level requirement of 3. Once you’re level three, travel to that square by clicking on it (traveling requires 2 energy points, unless you own a mount). After arriving, open up your backpack and click on the little blue arrow to bring up the item menu. You should see a new option labeled ‘Sell [5]‘ or something of that nature. The 5 will be replaced with whatever amount of gold you will get if you do decide to sell that item.

Gear Quest Auction House
Along with selling your items, you can auction them off to other players. Commonly this should be reserved for rare, hard to come by items. However, New players just starting out may be very interested in a piece of gear that seemed easy for you to come by. Conversely, you can use the auction house to pick up some of that Gear Quest gear that has eluded your efforts. To visit the auction house follow the steps outlined above in the ‘Sell the gear…‘ section to reach ‘Haven.’ Once there, you should see an option up at the top of the page called ‘Auction House!,’ otherwise, you should be able to reach the auction house by clicking the plus (+) symbol at the far right of all of the tabs. Using the auction house proved to be quite easy, finding it, however, was a bigger challenge.

Fighting:

Gear Quest PVP (Player-Versus-Player)

This aspect of the game was a little intriguing to me. After messing with it a few times, it looks like when you attack someone in PVP the action is played out in much the same manner as if you were doing a quest. It gives you blow-by-blow information and tells you what is happening. Every time I have fought thus far the fight has gone two rounds, with each of us attacking twice (once per round) and the victor seems to always be the person that does the most damage. In order to PVP first click on the ‘Fight‘ tab. Then, pick someone from the list with which you would like to fight. Click on the persons name and let their Gear Quest profile page load. Before clicking the attack button (fist in the middle of the page) I would recommend looking at their stats to make sure they are a fit opponent. Attacking someone with far better stats than your own is a good way to get your butt kicked. If you are unsatisfied and do not wish to fight this person, click the ‘Fight‘ tab at the top of the page once more to reload the list and select a new player. Once you are happy with your selection, click the attack button in the middle of their Gear Quest profile age and watch the magic happen. Good luck!

Gear Quest Questing
You should have been introduced to questing in the tutorial if you went through it. If you did not, well.. I guess that is why I’m writing this. So, if you click on the ‘Quest‘ tab at the top of the page, you will be presented with quests that are unique to the area of the map that you are presently on. I would hope that if you are new to the game you are on the starting area which is ‘The Cemetery,’ if you are not, you should probably make your way there. Once there, you will be presented with 5 options. Three under the heading of ‘Monsters,’ one under ‘Quests,’ and yet another under the label ‘Bosses and Mini-Bosses.’ There is information listed for each including: the amount of gold / XP you will earn from completing the quest, the amount of energy the quest costs, and even a challenge rating. The challenge rating may be a little difficult to notice. It is indicated by the red bar to the left of the energy cost. Hovering your mouse pointer over this bar should reveal one of 5 different possible ratings, Too Easy, Ideal, Challenging, Hard, and Impossible.

Gear Quest Boss Fights
First of all, don’t be afraid to try them out. I was a little reluctant at first and then I decided to give it a shot and it was quite easy. ‘The Slayer‘ is the first boss you will likely encounter. When you first attempt him you will be taken to a different screen with a few buttons at the bottom including: Attack, Run Away, Invite, and Info. The first two buttons are self explanatory, however, the Invite button allows you to invite other players to help you in the fight via chat. The Info button will display some text about the boss you are fighting. At first, you may be daunted by the fact that ‘The Slayer’ has 500 hit points. However, the way the game works is quite interesting. You can start a boss fight and then take your sweet time to complete it. Being as you earn 10% of your health back every 5 minutes, if you get into a bind all you have to do is wait for your health to come back up. It also takes 1 energy point each time you wish to attack, so likely you will be waiting a little bit for your energy to come back. Simply attack when you can, and wait for your health to come back if you need to. Finish this boss off and you should get some nice loot you can use or sell in the Auction House. Also, you can repeat this boss multiple times in order to get good XP, gold, and loot.
